Just get a model-specific AliExpress band for cheap. I paid more than this for my my Casio MW59

how do i get the metal bits off? on inspection they seem hardwired in

Are these taper pins like the F-91W where the band has an arrow pointing to the direction which they can be pushed out? I don't actually have the model.

If you want to go with a new watch, either of the Timex models would work well. Timex makes great watches, just be aware that the ticking of the second hand can be loud.

cant see one

Oh, you're not familiar with spring bars, and these aren't double shouldered. You can use like a butter knife and get right in here

and push the metal shoulder away from the lug. These pins are just like a toilet paper roller in miniature.

got it out, feel like i might struggle getting a new one in but i might give it ago. any ideas how i might put a new one in?

Getting them in is easier than out, in my experience! Just look up some videos on how to install straps on YouTube.

yh i sort of bent the old pin on the way out

Ah, you'll want a new one, then! Some straps come with them, especially the ones with quick release spring bars. If the strap you want doesn't come with them, well, they shouldn't cost more than like 25 cents to buy.
