Sinn 836 - back from service

A few months after getting this Sinn 836 for my 50th birthday this year it started to loos time at a slightly disconcerting rate. It had been running steadily at +2,5 sec a day and suddenly it was loosing 5 -7 sec. So I went to HQ in Frankfurt (it’s only a 40 min trip) to look around their shop room an inquire about the problem I was having. Even though the watch was still within spec. of the movement it apparently it is not within Sinn’s specifications. So they offered to either adjust it, which could or could not work out, or I would have to leave my beautiful watch there for 4 to 6 weeks and have it serviced free of chare. Well, those were some rough weeks I most say.

But finally I have my watch back and I am really glad. They couldn’t tell what exactly had been the problem but their watchmaker says it should run fine now. So I can only hope.

On a side note I would like to mention that the customer service at Sinn is absolutely wonderful. If you ever have the chance to drop by there, it is really worth it. But I must admit that I didn't expect to have problems of this sort.

Has anyone else had such a problem with a Sinn watch?

I bought a Sinn 104 on eBay earlier in the year. It was 1 year old.

It seemed alright when it arrived, but within a few weeks I noticed it was running at anywhere between -5 and -18 spd!

I sent it to Sinn’s representative in the UK, and they regulated it under warranty. It came back running nicely at +2 spd.

I’ve since sold it for other reasons, but it was easy enough to get the problem fixed.

Your right, regulating the wach would have been fast. I was just so perplexed that change was so abrupt.
