Shoutout to Vaer
Back in March, I finally pulled the trigger on a Vaer C3. I’ve been watching the company for a few years, and wanting to support them. I’m new to watches, so this was the first watch I’d bought on which I spent over $300. I heard great things about the leather strap, and even though it added around $100 to the cost of the watch, I decided to go for it. I thought it completed the overall “made in America” concept nicely.
The strap was/is as great as everyone said. Incredibly supple and comfortable, and paired with the watch, it was the look I wanted. It’s quick release as well, but that’s the reason for the shoutout. Only about a month after receiving it did I notice the tail was really stretching out at the spring bar mechanism. It continued to get worse, to the point where I could easily remove the quick release bar, so I finally e-mailed Vaer to see if that was normal, or if I was doing something wrong.
You can sort of see, one side is still pretty much the same as when it was new, and the other has expanded a lot.
They asked for pictures, I sent some, and they shortly thereafter emailed me saying a new strap was in the mail. I did not expect them to outright replace it, but without prompting they did. So if you’re wondering how their customer service is, they have my endorsement!

Nice! Yeah I really like the work they do. I’ve asked a couple questions since receiving the watch, and they’re always super responsive and ready to help

I’d love to get one of their divers as well, but it’s hard to buy multiples from one brand when there are so many great options out there.
I have the D4 Solar Diver! It's a great beater diver. I worn it on vacation in Austin, TX with a black NATO strap. Took it for jumping off cliffs into a lake and went hiking with it. It survived without scratches, dings nor leaks
