- This collaboration between Timex and The Metropolitan Museum of Art pays homage to Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), a Japanese ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock printing technique) artist, and one of his most famous works, “Under the Wave off Kanagawa” or “the Great Wave”. This woodblock print was created by Hokusai in 1831 as part of a series of woodblock prints titled, “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”, and is on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, along with other paintings by Hokusai and his pupils.
