I never thought I’d say this but

A few months ago I mentioned I had gotten myself into some credit card debt (still paying it off) At first I was like damn now what? I can’t just whip out the CC and buy any watch I like. But as the months have gone by I’ve become more interested in other hobbies especially in vintage BMX don’t have one yet still saving up without using credit cards. So here are my pros and cons why I don’t mind being in CC debt. I know it sounds crazy.

Pros.

1) I’m refrained from buying every watch I see/like

2) My financial situation let’s me focus on other less expensive hobbies

3) My watch buying habits have slimmed down instead of buying watches that cost between $200-500 Im now buying under a $100 sometimes even less then $50

4) My interest in watches hasn’t changed much still look at them, even dreaming about certain pieces.

5) It let’s me wear watches I’ve been neglecting more wrist time.

Now the cons

1) I’m Limited to what I can spend

2) Not being able to buy watches made by xyz

3) Not being able to buy watches I like because of too much spending.

4) Reading or watching watch content makes it harder not to spend

5) Wearing the same old watches gets boring.

I know this thread is a bit different but in a weird way it’s actually helped me with my future spending.

I’m not a fan of using credit to buy watches. This should be a fun hobby not one I should get stressed over, ever. I’ve never used a CC to pay for a watch. I’ve used one to buy a watch and then transferred money to payoff the CC.

As far as the BMX bike hobby is concerned have fun. I think it cool you have a chance to more than one thing. Enjoy! Cheers.

Old man advice…bang out that debt and you’ll feel a great sense of relief…it will also make you really put some thought into purchases going forward to avoid the same situation

Always spend within your means!

I got out of grad school with $100k in student loans and $21,367.00 in credit card debt…without a graduate degree. Took a $14.00 an hour job and took a wife that was still in school.

Took a couple of years, but paid the CCs off and haven’t carried a debt on my cards since (still have 10 years on the student loans, but the interest is near 0).

Give it some time. Focus on your finances, and after a bit come back to what gives you joy, whether that be watches or something else.

Oh yeah, I kept the wife too.

Wow that's mental!

Got into debt in my early 20's (kept crashing new motorbikes), got declared bankrupt & haven't bought anything on tick since.
