Which is your favorite GS in your collection? I’m debating picking one up before the new year but there are so many I want 😂😂😂
Choosing a favorite Grand Seiko is a very hard question to answer, my friend. It’s probably split between the Lake Suwa and my Hi-Beat White Birch. Both feature ridiculously textured dials and are housed in the newer Evolution9 case, which has thinner profiles than previous Hi-Beat and Spring Drive calibers. However, the 9SA5 in the White Birch has been known to have some issues with regulation right from the factory. Mine was running at +11 to +13 seconds per day out of the box, and that was unacceptable to me. Luckily, it didn’t need to travel all the way to Japan to get properly regulated.

Yeah, they’re definitely having a lot of teething issues in regulating this new movement. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re using a free sprung balance and an over coil hairspring and they’re just not used to regulating these technologies. But it’s something to be aware of. Mine took less than a month to send away and get fixed so it’s not like you’re without it for months on end but it’s something to definitely think about.
