My Grandfathers watches

Today I was gifted my grandather’s watch (from my auntie who must have had it about 40 years)

I was visiting my auntie and uncle (my mums older sister & her husband) I was telling them how I’m really into watches and explained a bit, my uncle showed me a nice omega De ville that a close friend of his gave him before he passed away, he had it on a leather strap as he said he didn’t like wearing it on the bracelet. It was really nice to share this moment with my close family (I love my auntie and uncle dearly, they have been kind and loving to me and I appreciate that so much)

My auntie said she had her fathers watch, she went and got it from upstairs.

I never met my maternal grandfather, he died a few months before I was born.

I look a lot like him.

This is the watch (see photos above) apparently my uncle said it stopped working a while back.

I might see if a watchmaker wants to have a go at getting it working again some time in the near future.

You’ll notice it’s crown is on the case back which is unusual.

If had a cursory Google about for info on it and found some interesting stuff.

SAGA was a timex brand, and this same watch can be seen in a couple of different brandings including a Timex version I saw.

I like the “vintage aesthetic” of this watch but obviously the true value is that it was worn by my grandfather. Making it truly priceless to me.

I have both of my grandfathers watches- my fathers father had a gold plated lorus (I’ll throw in a photo of that one too)

Anyway just wanted to share, if you know anything about these watches feel free to educate me.
