NWA - First Vintage Elgin, First Seiko

I was inspired by @KCSpike a week ago to pull the trigger on my first vintage Elgin. Pretty early in my colleting journey, so I didn't put too much money into it. For what it cost though I have been super impressed with how well it's run over the last few days.

The Seiko (SWR064) was a birthday gift from my wife. Impressed with the detailing on the dial, and the calf leather strap has a wonderful red hue to it.

Excited to add some dress pieces to the collection.

Late '40's Elgin? (The numbers on the movement can be looked up. It doesn't say "Shock Master" which I think started in '52.) Looks sharp.

This is a 1956 Elgin Oakdale. You are right that "Shock Master" does not appear on it, and I am not quite certain why. I have heard about the varying words, DuraPower, Shockmaster, DuraBalance, as appearing on the dial in various periods, but I haven't yet heard what they referred to about the watch. I can only speculate that whatever improvements these terms designate are not present in the Oakdale line. Are you familiar with what specifically the terms are referring to?

@fancy_man knows this stuff, but Shock Master was their version of shock protection, like Incabloc. DuraPower was an improved drive train and DuraBalance was an improved balance, I think.
