First Swiss

So I've been reading and researching toward my first Swiss watch. Made lists, added all manner of details to help sort and filter (not the least important of which is cost), and pretty much had my short list down to two: one of several Tissot offerings, and a particular bronze Pointer Date Oris.

My wife surprised me with a trip to New York City at the beginning of December! A combined birthday and Christmas gift. We had a blast! As we're walking through Times Square one of many times I'm suddenly looking at a Tissot store! So with her nod in we go! Super nice guy helped us and I tried on several including one I had really been looking at... the Le Locle 20th anniversay edition. Just beautiful! I had also seen and we had a look at the ladies version.

Long story short (I'm not very good at that -lol), I had been waiting for Christmas to see if someone gave me a watch. They did not. Sad trumpet.

So December 26th yada yada I head into a local jeweler and watch place to look and find myself holding a Hamilton Field Khaki Titanium (it was already on my list wish list). 20% off put it at around $850. Nice. Really nice. And under a grand is a sweet place for my entry into Swiss watch ownership.

I decide since I'm coming back to this area the next day I'll hold off and also check on my usual place and the bronze Oris at about $1700

So, I go there. I walk in and see a bunch of empty cases. Including the Oris section. Nothing. WTH? They had been robbed! NO! Awe, man! That so sucks on so many levels. I felt really bad. But they're ok, no one hurt, and they have some other stuff. The Tissots weren't hit.

So I'm looking and looking and behold!... Here's that beautiful Le Locle anniversary edition! I'm looking and wife of the guy I usually talk to (co-owner, of course) is really trying to sell me the watch says she'll discount for the holidays. I ask for a number and walk out the door with this gorgeous watch!! My first Swiss! :-D

My wife bought it for me.. and so I ordered the ladies version for her, also at a discount. It will be in this week.

Still have a bronze Oris on my list, and definitely that Hamilton! But I am thrilled with the Tissot!

Ediyed for a typo and to swap the pic of the back. That was the back of the ladies. Fixed.

Congrats on the Tissot for you and your wife! I absolutely love you guys have a coordinating set. If you are comfortable ordering from an out of state AD, I wouls get in touch with Topper Jewelers in CA for the Oris and Hamilton. They often discount a lot of brands and will also not charge sales tax if you live outside CA.

Huh, until I took a better look I thought that was a Tudor 1926 opaline dial. Good for Tissot and congratulations to you and your wife. Enjoy your purchases in good health.
