Long awaited repair, finally complete!!!

This is a solar powered casio, the STL-S100H.

I still remember the night I got this rugged timepiece.

A peaceful evening. A not so peaceful 13 year old boy. And an ongoing debate with his parents. "I need a watch" "But you already have 3. One we got you for new years, and the other two you got as gifts from your friends" "*I want this but I don't have any more arguments tantrum* But I want another onnnneeeeeee" "You are not going to wear all three of them, are you?" "*Tantrum persists* I'll wear all 3 of them to school" "*Sardonic Laughter* Ok ok fine. We'll get it this weekend. Happy?".....

Its the weekend. 8 PM. My dad has parked his camry near a McDonald's. We walk a block to a supermarket. Casio watch dealers. "This one". The orange-grey casio is removed and placed in my hands. "This one, I want this one". A lumpsum amount of OMR 17 (~44 USD) was paid.

Came back to the car and started giggling at the thought of wearing it and thinking about how cool it is that the sun directly charges my watch!!!!

Wore it for a couple of months before it went dead. Didn't charge properly, even though it was exposed to direct sunlight for the whole day!! Watch was misplaced.

Cut to when I turned 18 (I'm a partial watch nerd in a watch nerd community at this point). I remembered this watch suddenly during one of my online classes (thanks covid). I googled "orange black casio solar watch start lap". Rummaged through Google images and finally found a picture. Couldn't remember where the watch was. That was it.

A few months later, ta-da. I find it hiding under an old pile of clothes in a carton in our storage room, back in our native place!!! How did this watch travel overseas??? Is it still working?? Oh no it isn't. Can it be fixed?? *please god please*

Et voilà!! It doesn't work. I go around asking if this can be fixed, "No sir, we can't do anything".

I took it back with me to where I had been pursuing my higher studies. Went to an authorized casio service center. 3 weeks of waiting, its finally here, working. In all its glory. Just like how a casio should.

This watch is a journey. Tells a story, a small one, over a period of 6 years. A man and his watch. I love this.
