About a year ago, after a period of fascination with vintage dress watches, I found this vintage Nivada on eBay and picked it up for a pittance. It’s got a manual wind movement that is amazingly accurate. The case back is blank but for the number 10122. It’s small—by far the smallest watch in my collection—measuring 24mm wide, 28mm tall, and 7.3mm thick. That’s all I know about it, other than I enjoy wearing it.

Yes, I learned that their vintage watches before they became a victim of the quartz crises may have been branded Nivada or Nivada Grenchen; and in the U.S., due to the company’s distribution agreement with Croton, they could also be branded Croton or Croton Nivada Grenchen. Such an interesting story, and I really like the brand’s modern-day revival.
