Knot Moonphase limited edition review

I got this watch for two reasons: 1) to add a different type of watch to the collection and 2) to wear with a specific strap with a personal connection.

This is my first watch of this brand and my first review.

First impression: the quality and finish both are very nice in person. You get higher end 'Seiko-like' finishing for an attractive price. Knot further makes use of local craftsmenship, something I value.

See for more info this video on Youtube about the brand:

(around 4.10 the regular version of the moon-phase is presented with close-ups). The moon-phase was one of the features I was looking for in this watch purchase.

I also looked at various others such as the Casio MTP-M105L-7AV (lesser finished), Tissot Carson Gent (too plain), Frederique Constant Classics Business Timer (out of current price-range) Citizen Calendrier (too big), but in the end the Knot appealed the most. Another reason was the strap size (18 mm), but I'll get to that.

The quartzmovement MIYOTA 6P00 may be inexpensive and looked down upon by some, but I expect it to perform sufficient for a dress-type situation and trust Myota (Citizen) at this time. Quarts is actually a plus since this watch will not be worn on a daily basis, and it features a perpetual calendar (no need to adjust te date) and low maintenance.

The water resistance 3 ATM could be better, but for a dress-watch it suffices. The thin presence of 8 mm is perfect for formal attire. And the sapphire glass is a plus.

The choice for the limited edition was, in part, due to the fact that, unlike the regular version, the moon phase and sub dials have silver-looking finished frames, that give imho a more bespoke look. And the mother of pearl on the sub-dials is simply beautiful. Designwise it is on the safe side, but that can also be noted as part of the appeal. In person the sub dials are harder (for me) to read, so do not get this if you want to read the date at a glance.

The clasp of the mesh-strap is ok, the strap is very comfortable. The low weight of the watch makes you forget it is there. My biggest gripe is that the width for the strap is not 18mm but a bit smaller 17.9 mm?, so my strap does not fit and my personal reason 2) for getting this watch is not met. In this regard I was very glad to have ordered the matching strap of Knot. And If I get another watch of Knot, it will be interchangeble (see video for explanation).

In short: it is a nice looking watch that is different, not perfect, but in all very nice dress watch. I intend to keep and enjoy it.
