Malaysian on a Budget

I live in Kuching. What watch is good for the humidity, daily wear & doesn't cost hundreds?

Budget: MYR 50 - 100

Wrist size: 6.9 mm (much thanks poormansrolex)

What is your budget? It can be easier to suggest some more models.

If you want an Automatic, I would get a Seiko 5 dressKX like the SRPE55. Perfect for everyday use and will do well in every weather.

If you want a quartz, I would look into Citizen Eco-drive Fugu. You can get those in 44mm or the newer 37mm.

In that case, I would just get a distal Casio like the F91W, A158 or A168. Pretty much dependable and will last you a long time.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out while shopping this weekend

I was going to ask about Alba, forbidden fruit outside of Southeast Asia and parts of the Middle East. But then I did the conversion and we're talking under 22USD. I can't think of anything beyond entry Casio's listed by @nightfury95 above that I'd trust. Maybe Armitron or something, depends what is locally available. Unless submerging in water, 30-50m should be adequate water resistance, although I'd put no faith in Chinese water resistance claims at this price level.

The wrist measurement seems off, even if you mean cm.

Alba is actually popular here & saw 1 Alba watch that I like but overbudget a few weeks ago. I measured my wrist. It's 17.5 cm then googled 17. 5 cm wrist watch size & it gave me 21-24mm

17.5cm is ~6.9" and standard enough to not be a concern.

As a Malaysian like you, sorry to say with that budget nothing worth buying.

Even a basic but decent Casio would cost RM100+

Try your luck with used watch, or just save up and use your phone to check time.

The harsh reality 😭

How much should I save up to?

Maybe start look for watches in carousel app.

Casio MRW200 series is a good entry for analog watches which cost around 100+

For digital, I would suggest AE1200, below RM150
