My Unloved Casioak

I bought this watch less than a year ago, as I needed a watch that could go in water and I was too precious with my other watches to think about going swimming in them.

I have a strong connection with most of my other watches (most are family heirlooms or bought to mark an occasion).

But nearly a year has passed and I am yet to bond with this one. There is nothing wrong with it as it performs its intended purpose very well.

It has also become my mowing/gardening/DIY car repair watch. Again, the perfect watch for the purpose. So what gives?

I think I’ve finally worked out what it is.

While the watch has two moving hands (no seconds hand) I have rarely seen them actually move. Yes, the minute hand does a little jump every 20 seconds (this can be adjusted) but you wouldn’t know it unless you are looking out for it.

I think that’s my issue, the watch doesn’t actually ‘do’ anything. Even the addition of a ticking seconds hand would make a world of difference, at least to me anyway. And yes, there is a little digital screen but I can hardly see that.

I think that’s why I like mechanical over quartz so much. There is always something going on in those things provided you wind them…

For me it is my Sunday watch when I am too lazy to start one of the automatics and set it to time, it is also my watch to go out on the street and go unnoticed because of not being a target of crime in my city there are a lot of assaults in the streets and a G Shock don't interest them much
