Hanhart minute hand sync

Hi,

Had my 417 ES 1954 for a few weeks and like all watches they have their little idiosyncrasies. I noticed that the minute hand on mine drifted to the left or right no matter how diligently I set it against the second dial. This really got my OCDC going. So after a bit of research, here is how to solve it. Hack the watch when the second hand is dead on 60. Then choose the exact minute you want your minute hand pointing to eg 09:03. Turn the minute hand clockwise 30 minutes past the 09:03 and the reverse the minute hand anticlockwise back to the 09:03 position. When the atomic clock etc hits 09:03 press the crown to start the watch. You should find the minute hand perfectly aligned going forward. Apparently by following this method it relieves any excess energy built up in the movement and eliminates any lag when the cogs engage the minute hand. I’m no expert but it works for me and sorted out the alignment issue.

This method seems to work best with most of my watches, I use it all the time.
