Obviously it’s a vacheron but without anything else on the dial it will have to be taken to the AD for them to send away for an inspection. A local watch repair/dealer may open it up for a look at the movement but I would just take it to an AD to sort
Just looking at the dial and case doesn’t really tell much of the watch’s story but based on my own limited experience with vintage/older Vacheron which stopped a long time ago, the watch might not command too much. Such a nice watch your friend should send to VC for a full service and keep it imho.
