Fast or Slow what is your Preference?

So it's been a year since I last regulated my watch and I noticed that it was starting to lose 10 seconds a day, so my OCD butt went to pay my watch guy a visit. As always he was super kind and did it for me without question. As I was heading back home I was thinking about how annoying I can be about this. I do not mind when my watch is ahead, since I like to be early to everything I do. But I was wondering about the rest of this community. What do you prefer? Are you okay with the watch being behind or do you also prefer when it goes fast? To clarify I do understand that mechanical watches are never 100% and that COSC is +3/-4 a day (if I remember correctly). What is pictured is a lovely clock I saw in Boston!

For me, fast is preferable. I can just pull the crown to stop it until correct when drift becomes unacceptable.

That is my thought about it too!

Calling myself out a bit, I am happy to be an hour or so early to anything I do. It helps that I like to read so I always have a book with me. But yes I hate being late to things too!

Fast…so you’re never late

Fast. BTW, what watch are you referencing in your article?

I always feel crazy obsessing over this lol I without a doubt prefer my watches to be fast as opposed to slow. I’ve sold watches before because they were technically in spec but slow and I didn’t want to bother with a service haha

My most recent watch, a Breitling SO Steelfish, needed a service when I got it so I had it serviced and made sure to ask them to regulate it gaining time or at 0 rather than losing. My OCD always gets me on that! You’re not alone!

I am glad to hear I am not alone! Because trust me if the shop I go to for regulations and repairs wasn't as cool as they are about regulating my watch I would have had to find another shop and team. I just want it to pick up seconds so I can just pull the crown out and then push it back in once my reference catches up again.

Totally agree with you there. Keep on keeping on man!

One day I’ll have a METAS watch! But to be honest I truly love my daily wear 😁
