I'm very much ok with that type of watches, but I call them direct design copies instead. Homage is a word we just don't use correctly. The Lorier Falcon III or the Traska Summiteer are true homages.
But what we understand here as "homage" is something I have grown to appreciate more and more after having the "real" thing; the Explorer.
A DDC watch is an affordable way to experience size, design, feelings about a watch and sometimes it can be even better in some aspects. I have been gravitating towards true homages lately, like the Summiteer but now, after some experience with the Explorer, I kind of respect more and more both true homages and direct design copies, specially when those direct design copies bring at least something new although small, to the table, be it quality, size, color, or any other small change.

That's a good point. I never liked that these types were called "homages" when they were basically copies in all but name. But agree on the nice purpose of getting to try somethings out or just not being able to afford something. Lately I've been wanting to get "true" homages and to support some microbrands.
And very interesting about appreciating homages AFTER having the original. Makes me think you should do an article or video about that particular journey!

Well, actually I have had that idea for a long time but since I don't have a ddc watch right now I feel I don't have enough experience to make the video. I've been considering getting one only to make a review so time will tell :)
