THE BIRTHDAY BULGARI!!!

Many have already suffered through me waffling on about Bulgari so I'll spare you all the long version of my fascination with the brand.

My wife was with me at an enthusiast gathering a few months back when I tried on an Octo Roma and she immediately proclaimed "I'm getting you one of those." My wife is not prone to kidding and had already bought me the Speedmaster that started the collection so I knew that without a doubt she would follow through.

What I didn't know was how much I'd love EVERYTHING about this watch. Fit, feel and finish are all on point. Watch enthusiasts know Bulgari as a legit watchmaker and non-watch people know Bulgari as a premium luxury brand. Sweet all the way around!

I now have a Genta inspired, integrated bracelet, blue dial beauty unlike anything else I own. A PRX or Twelve would've been pretty cool too if I had done the buying but this is truly heirloom level from a remarkable woman and destined to accompany me on many special occasions.

Giving and receiving a watch as a gift can be tricky and in many cases an "it's the thought that counts" endeavor. Grateful that I can appreciate more than just the thought.

Would love to hear your experiences about giving or receiving a watch as a gift and how it worked out for you.

The Octo isn’t Genta inspired. It’s a genuine Genta design. The Octo was originally sold by the Genta brand with the Genta name on the dial. Bulgari bought the Genta brand and continued to use the Genta name on the Octo for some time until they decided to bring the design into the main Bulgari brand. Here’s mine.

Right, I know! I was just treading lightly.

Bulgari purchased Gerald Genta and Daniel Roth but more importantly has been a respectful steward of the design language of both. Heritage not hype!

I'm also interested in the Bulgari chrono with the Zenith El Primero movement and the Diagano Scuba GMT.

Thanks for sharing yours!

I hope to add an Octo to the collection someday, but not before a Louis or Dumont, lol. What a wonderful gift from your wife. Enjoy it in good health!!

Hey Jack! Just came upon your post. Happy belated birthday! Wowsers - the Bulgari is a showstopper and looks terrific on your young wrist! That blue dial is pure chef’s kiss. The Octo is classes above the aforementioned brands (imo) and rarely gets any presence in the forum. You represent it well, my friend. That birthday Bulgari from your beautiful Rebecca - seriously, does it get any better?

Every watch that enters my collection is “approved” by my wife, which I consider a gift in its own right! For that, I’m always grateful.

Again, happy belated birthday, buddy ❤️🎂❤️

Thanks Vu, you're the Best and you're always kind to Rebecca and I. I shared the Bulgari yesterday with Bill Sanders during his WatchArtSci livestream and he raved about it.

Getting Bill's thumbs up was definitely a bonus because he has perhaps one of the most discriminating tastes in horology. You know how we do it. Enjoy the praise but ignore the hate.

Looking forward to meeting up with you again. Rebecca says "Hi" and sends hugs!

That’s so awesome (regarding Bill Sanders rave), buddy!

There’s enough hate in the world, so for any to enter this hobby is just ridiculous.

My mantra is simple: I wear what I love and the view is perfect 🤙
