I go through phases with what I feel like wearing (and buying). My preferred style is field watches but I own divers and dress watches, too and I enjoy wearing them all.
Hang on, I though the rule was: only buy what the cool kids on YouTube tell you to buy?
I think different styles match different occasions!
I'm just starting my watch collection and I kinda want to have "one of each" : a dress watch, a diver, a field watch, à GMT, a chronograph, etc...
On the other hand I know some people have only divers in their collections and that's fine too, as @IceCreamMan said : to each their own 😊
