Managed to retrieve my grandfather's watch from the village house.
Some people's grandpa might've left behind a vintage rolex or omega piece, but my grandfather was a hardworking man, driving trucks, tractors and harvesters on the collective farm. Most likely he acquired this piece in the 90's.
He died when i was 10, but i have plenty fond memories of spending time with him, a lot of times on the road in his soviet truck.
I am planning on restoring the watch and making it wearable. Any tips on removing the case corrosion are welcome.

Lovely, it's beyond price to get something with that family connection.
I'd look at eBay, there's home plating kits on there & guides on how to do it on YouTube.
Good luck 🍀
Look forward to seeing your wrist shots with it restored 👍🏻👍🏻

For now im not looking at plating it, just getting the surface corrosion off. I have no problem with it being exposed brass.

Quite like the brass worn look myself TBH.
Maybe some gentle wet and dry paper, 1000 grade? Hopefully someone will come along soon & give you a better answer 👍🏻
This is super cool! And the band is unique, it's a very cool piece
