This is not the Explorer you are looking for

I think it was just before the pandemic that the Asia Mechanical Watches Group (AMWG) collaborated with Mathey-Tissot to recreate a less known version of the Explorer. The truth is that they got me right at the 34.5mm diameter even before I read about how it's not a 1016 clone.

The face might look a bit like a 1016 but the profile is very different, and it wears very well on my 16.5cm wrist. Mathey-Tissot is a “has been” company but together with AMWG they got it right this time.

Please note that my MT369 is from the first generation that is now sold out. The second generation is identical except for the fautina that is now used on the dial and hands.

@Catskinner: Jomashop carries Mathey-Tissot. When this brand appeared I got confused as to whether it was a new line from Swatch's Tissot. (No, but that's the goal I think).

I love it,  but I'm afraid I couldn't pull off a watch that small.

I'm so glad someone is making watches in sweet spot sizes like this.

The rights to sell the MT369 are held by Asia Mechanical Watches Group (AMWG) because this is an exclusive partnership the set with Mathey-Tissot for this model.

Mathey-Tissot have no connections with Tissot at all. It's an old brand and there was a time when they manufactured type XX/XXI watches for the French air force, but then they crashed during the 80-90's and now they are basically the equivalent of Bulova: A shopping mall outlet brand.

I too prefer smaller watches. There are several words or word combinations that cause me to lose interest in a watch immediately and one of them is "wrist presence".
