Out of the blue

I like my Zelos Horizons GMT and I like taking my time when I wake up in the morning. The routine of sitting outside and watching the sun rise while I sip my coffee is relaxing and a nice balance to the hectic day at work that will follow.

I don't know why I decided to take the Zelos out for a spin. It just happened and I'm not sorry about it. The bronze Horizons GMT is slowly turning into a color that is more looking like copper than brass and it evolves into something that is well used and well cared for. In contrast, the blue dial with its gilded indices and hands is still as vivid and dynamic as ever.

I didn't use to wake up early when I was a teenager and maybe I missed some of the best moments of life to slumber. But then there are plenty of other things I used to do when I was younger that I consider now as utter stupidities. Life's too short to spend my time complaining about the past.

Or that I can't see the point in a display case that is never on display. The custom engraved rotor is nicely finished and is another way that Zelos made the Horizons GMT a bit special, but I also can count on the fingers of one hand the number of time when I flipped the Horizons to look at the movement - and half of those time were to take photos for WC. It's there, it's nice, I don't care about it, but it doesn't mean that other people can't appreciate it just because I don't.

It's a bit hard to read the time on the GMT hand because the 24Hr indices on the chapter ring and bezel are not very legible. Bronze is also a denser metal than steel, and therefore the Horizons is heavier than its 39-40mm diameter would suggest.

Logically I should have pulled another watch from the winder, perhaps a lighter one with a quartz movement, or a simple 3 hander since I don't need to call anyone working from Europe today, but my hand went to the Horizons with its vivid cobalt blue dial.

I guess that my hand was right after all, the bronze Horizons GMT is going to be the perfect watch for today.
