Greetings WatchCruch fam! Breguetboy here signing in for my first of many updates on industry news. Happy to join the WC team!

Well, it is the first Tuesday of the year and Omega has used this as a way to ring in the new year with some new precious metal Speedmaster with the famous and beloved 321 movement.

We have seen the steel on bracelet and platinum on strap versions of this watch announced back in 2019. The success and demand led Omega to stop taking names for the list to obtain this watch.

Now launching in the brands white gold alloy on full metal, called Canopus Gold. FUN FACT: Canopus is the brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina and the second-brightest star in the night sky... much in theme with the Speedy legacy. This alloy is 18k white gold with platinum, rhodium and palladium.

Like other anniversary watches we have seen Omega come out with in recent years, the brand decided to put the laser etched hippocampus (or Seahorse) on the sapphire case back. A distracting nod to the roots? Maybe. It certainly distracts from the movement itself.

The watch price is the most expensive Speedmaster I have seen coming in at $81,000USD which puts this watch in the unobtainium realm for most enthusiasts.

IIRC I believe the 321 movements have been produced by hand by one or two watchmakers in the brands HQ so while this may not be a limited edition... it certainly will be limited production.

What do we think of this announcement? Any predictions on future updates to the Speedmaster? Is Omega coming for upper tier brands at this price point? This entire year is the 65th anniversary and this watch guy wouldn't be surprised if we see some more Speedy news later on.
