My super accurate 1989 Seiko Kinetic back from Seiko USA service center

I had my kinetic modified to take regular batteries. I feel that the capacitator is too expensive, sometimes $60to$80, to swap every ten years. So I also took off the rotor; it had no more function, and it was dead weight. I feel the Kinetic technology was a failure, in contrast to solar.

Agree with you I purchased the watch back early 1990. This is the first time I had to get it serviced. So $168.00 for Seiko service to me is not bad.

Awesome! How did you do the swap for batteries? I love that Idea.

I don´t know how my watchmaker did it. But I have a solar Casio with a dead capacitator (upon inspection its a rechargeable battery with a module on top) took it out and fitted a battery of that the size. It worked fine. I think this is the approach. Good Luck!😉

Thanks. I have an old Seiko kinetic that I would love to buy… But same deal – I don’t want to have to replace a capacitor every 10 years.
