My Grail Watch, the one and only Hamilton H3, military issued for the US ARMY, and dated to my birth year 1983

Sooooo, this watch and me have a story. But where do I start? First let's say, I loved this design since like forever. I've owned a few cheap versions of that classic field design during my lifetime and in 2017, the year my first son was born, I've gotten the modern reissue. The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical in 38mm.

But wait I've said I have a long story with this? Yes. In 2000 I've firstly realized that there are military issued versions of that Hamilton Field watch, that's when my journey started.

I've been hooked, people would say. I knew I wanted THIS WATCH. But not just a common variant, no it had to be a version issued for the US ARMY in 1983. Why? Well. It's my birth year and I love the idea of a watch growing old with me, getting scars and aging as much as I do during my lifespan.

As you can tell from me being able to get this watch now, it was a much longer journey than I would have expected! I nearly gave it up when getting the modern reissue in 2017.

But this year I was able to get my hands on it. You could tell the exitment I've had when seeing one listed with my birth year.

And so as result to this, I am sitting here now owning this lovely Grail watch of mine. The 2017 version has already boxed and will given to my son, when he gets 18,and I'm going to get another 2019 version for my second son. So the three of us can live together with the trinity of birth year Khakis....

That's also a very cool variant. And yes I'm always switching to the H3 after work. So I basically wear it daily since I got it.

The size and weight make it the absolute most comfortable watch I own. I have mine on a Crown and Buckle 19mm chevron. Highly recommend the strap for this watch. It pokes a tiny bit because of the extra 1mm, but it’s a seriously incredible combo!

I bet, I have mine on a FinwatchStraps vintage Horween single pass. Fixed lugs only allow natoesque straps

Well it's for fighting and as disposable as the US Soldiers for the government. I guess.... 🤷🏻‍♂️
