Take - Back - Good - Times Watches

Hey guys, here's another post. Something I need to get rid off my chest. Let me start to ask you: "Have you ever bought a watch you really wanted so much, but in the midst of a not so very pleasant time period?"

Well, I did. I went through a horrible time last year and somehow, I needed to get my mind focusing on something else. Just to get some tension off of my shoulders.

So, I bought a Maurice Lacroix Aikon Skeleton 39mm just before Christmas 2022 and gosh, I was so excited. It's that feeling, that rush through your vaines full of endorfine. I had something to look forward to. I mean, spending my time through the holidays with my family and my loved one, while wearing that awesome watch in a beautiful place making great memories! That's one of the reasons why we "WATCH-NERDS" wear cool watches! Right?

So, that happened. We all spend the holidays in a beautiful place and full of love. 😊 New Years' Eve was awsome too, watching fireworks through the window from our kitchen room while holding each other. And so, 2022 was ended.

The first two months in 2023 were let's say, practically normal. Then slightly, everything started to shift. Changes started to pop up in the company. (For a quick notice: I worked in a family company which my grandfather, my father and my uncle were the founders. But, in 2021 the company was sold.)

Even the mood was changing. Change itself is a weird thing and believe me when I say if I had to experience it after 21 years being employed. The month of March came and my father had to leave the building by order. Then after, my auntie who retired from working after her whole life. My uncle, my cousin and I were the leftovers of the family.

I was still wearing that cool watch I loved so dearly, but it became a part of the experiences too. So, the next day I changed it to my Seiko Prospex LX watch. Thinking this might be changing the vibe to me. I know it's not the watch its fault or mistake! The turn of events makes people happy or sad and that was it!

In the month of April, the board had decided to delibirate regarding my duties. In the Month of May, they decided that I have to leave my duties. I had to find a different kind of task I had to focus on or I had to leave permanently.

So, that was the last day at work after 22 years in 2023, the 16th of May.

Okay nowadays, things are going smoother now. I went through harsh, difficult and dark times. Luckly I wasn't alone and in the end, they lost and I juridically won. But, mentally I had many dents and bruises to get fixed and I know, I will get there.

The last couple of weeks I started to enjoy my watches again I wore in 2023, all of them! I found back that excitement and love for my watches and mentally, it helps too. That's why I call them my Take - Back - Good - Times watches.

I'm sorry for that drama part, but unfortunetly it is a part of the story. Thanks for reading!

Well Done in being able to put some nicer memories on your watches. I went through a tough time with my Borealis Sintra. A great watch that I really liked, but I had to get rid of it.

Sometimes the memories are too much. It’s sad that you’ve had to take distance of that beautiful watch. But realistically and concerning your own mental wellbeing, I think it was the right decision to do so. Of course, if you believed if that was the right choice, then it was. It’s important to start with a plain slate and move forward. Cheers mate and thanks for commenting! ☺️👍🏼
