Farer Stanhope II Power Reserve

Got the Farer Stanhope II watch last week, stoked about the design and super excited to wear it, however, one concern I’ve is, it’s power reserve.

It’s advertised for 40 hours, however, I’ve been having to hand wind every day and I do it per Farer’s recommendation, that is until there is resistance felt. Post winding, it doesn’t last the full 24 hours even - is this typical? I’m genuinely concerned since the other mechanical watches I own typically last close to their advertised power reserve. TIA.

That's the hand winding one, isn't it? I think it's pretty common for first time manual wind owners to stop way short of a full wind until you work up the confidence to really hit the limit of the mainspring. If you keep winding with a grip just enough for the crown not to slip through your fingers, you should feel a gradual increase in resistance, followed by a ramp up in resistance, finally followed by feeling like you've hit a wall. Hope that helps!

Yes it’s hand wound and thanks for the tips. I do recognize the resistance path though what you describe here: gradual increase -> followed by a ramp up -> and then hit the wall. I guess I’ll try again for a day or two, if no improvement, then I’ll contact Farer.

Gotcha! Sorry if I assumed too much. I hope Farer makes it right with minimal annoyance
