What's the worst loss of a fine watch that has happened to you

I was given a gold mens sized JLC Reverso about 15 yrs ago, by my longest lasting girlfriend pretty early on in the relationship. I was not the watch nut I am now but I certainly loved it. about 8 yrs later I was out raking the huge amount of leaves at my house and stupidly took the watch off because the sweat was making the leather uncomfortable.

And then, I forgot about it. About a day later I figured out that I had raked the grail into the large leaf garbage bags , it still really hurts, one day I am going to get a silver duo face to hopefully ameliorate the pain. If anyone can top this story I will send you a prize, (seriously) I think there should be voting, because I am sure I would win, ugh,

In the late 80’s, while I was still in school, my Dad had given me my first nice watch, which was a beautiful Seiko chronograph. A year or so later, i had spent a long hot day helping a friend move out of a house. After the move, completely exhausted sweaty and tired, we went to get a very late lunch. I took my watch off my hot sweaty itchy wrist at the restaurant table, and didn’t realize or remember until the next day. It was lost forever. I attribute my Dad for sparking an interest in nice watches. For the sentimental value, I sure wish I could get that watch back…..

Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world where someone returned it to the restaurants management, . You should be able to replicate closely the Seiko that your dad had given you , no ? I have looked at JLCs and feel that if I some day (not soon) that I could afford one , I would get a duo face so that the one I have is better than the one I lost. For me, just getting the same one I dont know if that would make me feel better,. What do you think?
