Wanted to get some feedback on these Oceaneva 250M watches. They have a "sale" going on currently and as someone just getting into watch collecting I was wondering if these are worth picking up or if I should be spending my money on something different in this price range.
Never heard of them, almost all their models look like generic Rolex clones and the MSRPs seem way too high for what you get hence I assume the “sale“ is more or less fake and just there to get people to buy quickly. All in all it looks more like a generic cash grab to me than a real watchbrand.
At the 300$ mark I would rather suggest you look at some great microbrands. Phoibos for example would be a good option if you like divers. Take your time and read up a bit here and elsewhere before you buy and I am sure you will find a great watch you will enjoy!

A couple of my buddies have Oceaneva stuff that they got through watchgang but like you mentioned I don't really know much about them and didn't see anyone in this forum mentioning them. It definitely seemed strange that they would be selling their watch for 2/3 off so felt it may be too good to be true.

Watchgang is already a sign that these are not the best choice you can make. 90% of the brands on WG have overinflated MSRP to dupe you into thinking you got a bargain until you actually try to resell it and realize it is worth next to nothing.
So you are looking for an automatic dive watch and your budget is around 300$? If I know your profile it makes it a bit easier.
Yeah I'm just looking for something in that price range either a diver or a chrono. I'm getting married in a couple of months and want something cool to wear!
I agree that the MSRP on micro brands is a very misleading number to work with, but in looking at the watch specifications that these dive watches list, they appear to have a decent value (when they are discounted). A titanium case and band alone is pricey, as is a Sellita movement. If you are buying these watches at full price for future resale, then maybe you need to stick with more expensive bigger names. There are only a few of those that hold their value. I think if you are considering these watches, you should do it for your personal enjoyment.
