Styling A Bronze Watch

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! I found myself in Toronto recently and did a bit of a photoshoot with my Sacred Craft bronze diver. With an over abundance of bronze watch articles on the internet explaining how to pick the best bronze watch for you or how to care for your bronze watch or how to force patina a bronze watch, there appears to be a lack of content on how to wear your bronze watch. How to dress with it, what colours go with it, outfit ideas, etc. Bronze is unique in that it has such rich undertones that inspire warmth but invite dark and light colour pallets, equally. While I am not professing to being a fashion influencer by any means, I am someone who takes pride in how he dresses and firmly believe accessories make or break an outfit. I would also preface this article by saying that this sample outfit is what I would personally wear that are inline with my style. I am very much a fan of the darker tones, leather accents and fitted/sweater attire. I wouldn’t classify myself as a modern dresser, rather one who appreciates the classics, very much engaging in a more timeless style. Embracing, as the modern trend goes: dressing like a Ralph Lauren man in a world full of Nike tech boys.

The outfit I have chosen to go with here are dark jeans with a plain white, button up shirt and a ¼ zip forest green pullover. I personally love this outfit as the dark undertones compliment the warmth of the watch. It’s a robust, clean outfit but the larger presence of the watch adds a bit of ruggedness to the appearance. The forest green and the bronze work so well together, and I believe one of the best colour combinations.

This outfit is completed with a pair of black or brown boots with some gold framed sunglasses to match the gold aesthetic of the watch. A denim jacket as pictured works well in my opinion but so too would a peacoat to dress up the outfit. I would Pair Maison Margiela’s Jazz Club or Tom Ford’s Tabaco Vanille with this outfit to complete the rugged but refined connotation. This outfit is perfect for a smart, causal event, date night, or just doing laundry around your house.

Man, I don't overthink it, bronze seems to go good with lots of things. I do t dress up much, pretty much just casual, like cargo shorts and t-shirts. I wear mine on a rubber strap, so it's a bit more tooly than your bracelet too.

Thanks for your reply! Got to say, the red accent on your rubber strap is 👌💯! Compliments your watch so nicely! How long have you had your watch?

Thanks! Bought that strap specifically to compliment the bezel insert, which also pairs with the red minutes hand for easy at-a-glance timing when you line up the bezel. And the blue 24 hour chapter ring to tie in with the blue GMT hand. I've had this for a few month, did the build first week of January. Just waiting for that tasty patina to form now!

For sure! The whole things matches! I love it! And yeah, that is the skit exciting part! That patina is so unique to every watch and sometimes it’s hard to wait!

Yup, waiting in not easy, but I'm not going to force the patina, that feels like cheating. And it usually looks forced too, obvious that it isn't natural. It's started, so I'm just wearing and waiting!

I was very tempted at one point too, but decided against it. I suppose in an effort to embrace the delayed gratification mentality! Just have to be patient!

Gotta wear it and handle it too, the skin oils and stuff on the bronze will help the patina form. Of course, wearing it a lot doesn't help with the whole being patient thing! Definitely going to wear it next time I go to the beach, hopefully a little salt air will help it move along.
