A new acquisition, the Seiko Alpinist SPB121. Found a deal I couldn't resist from an AD in a small town in Arkansas accessible via Ebay. Very accurate (my highest priority) with a distinctive look. A screw down crown and a compass scale controlled by the second crown at 4 o'clock. This particular model is frequently criticized for the "cyclops" magnifying date window at 3 o'clock. I sympathize but it's a convenience for vision that isn't what it once was. And it comes with a leather strap that does nothing to improve Seiko's reputation for stiff cheap straps. But that was easily replaced with an olive color Italian leather that complements the green dial and unlike the stock strap matches the quality of the watch and lacks an embossed fake alligator surface.
