When a watch isn’t what you expected…

The title may be a little misleading…so the watch was exactly what I thought it was but didn’t get me excited like I thought it would. If the case shape looks familiar its probably cause it is. This is a Solar Aqua: Rolex case & crown paired with a Tudor case back & ETA movement. So what is this seemingly vintage Frankenwatch? Well, think vintage Tudor…but for specifically Canada. If you care to read more about the brand I’ll leave a link in the comments!

But back to the so called “disappointment”. Again the watch is everything I expected it to be. But unfortunately like many of you know who collect vintage & buy online. It’s hard to gauge a watches WOW factor. You can estimate the fit & feel that’s not hard in today’s market but you can’t gauge if you’ll be just as excited about the watch on your wrist as you are about it in the pictures. And unfortunately this wasn’t the only watch I bought recently that I had this feeling about.

I just keep coming back to my neo-vintage T.A.G. Heuer, & I know most have a daily driver with suplamentary watches to fill the days where switch up is needed. But I find myself even on those days reaching for something else in my collection. I realize I might wear it hear or there but I can’t help but feel someone else would love seeing this on their wrist. Needless to say I’m torn. I’d love to keep it but feel like it’s not for me.

All that being said I’m not 100% sure yet what todo but if you’d be interested in purchasing or trading for this peice comment or message me!

And as always buy what you like, wear what you love cheers my friends!

Could I please ask what strap this is on please? I am guessing lizard grain but don't know for sure. I have lots of vintage watches and think the style would suit beautifully.

Good luck going forward with your watch.

Thank you if you can help.

Thank you for going to the effort of doing the photo. Really appreciate it. I imagine they won't be cheap but to me the strap looks just right for vintage.

Cheers! 🤝

I’m not sure what brand of strap it is that the shop I use specs from. But I do know I’ve used google image on that buckle insignia and found the website. This one was $60usd I’ve bought another one there for $120usd so really a decent range for what I think is a great product

Great, thank you again very much.

I'm not used to paying that sort of price for a strap but the positive result is obvious. A few of my best vintage watches might be in for a treat 🙂
