Trading up?

I’ve been thinking about selling my Longines Spirit and a couple other pieces in order to buy a vintage Rolex Air King. Any thoughts? Has anyone ever done something like this? Thanks.

IMHO it's a backwards step.

All you'd be gaining is brand kudos, any modern mid tier watches are going to be much better than a vintage piece, regardless of brand.

Good luck 👍🏻

I wouldn’t do it;

a) it’s a rolex, everyone has one and that’s fine.

b) it’s a vintage they are different to handle than modern watches. More frail and so on.

c) if it makes you feel better to have a Rolex instead of a longines that’s fine.

just my 2 cents.

Fair points, however, I have a local watchmaker who I would buy it from who could fix it if anything went wrong. It also always makes me laugh when people say everyone has a Rolex. Where I live I’ve never seen anyone wearing one. It would be rare here and I don’t care what anyone thinks anyways.

Then you should do it, I’m just always confused when someone asks that online, but is confident about him-/herself. Anyways if you are confident about maintenance you should be good to go.

Haha I’m always confused by that too but now I’m that person! I just find it valuable to hear from others, I can be swayed, it’s not a done decision yet

Gotcha, then only one advise no matter the watch. Try it on feel it and decide afterwards.
