What happened to Hamtun?

Was anyone else here on the Kickstarter campaign for the Hamtun H3? If so, do you think we'll ever get the watches or is it time to cut our losses and move on?

The backstory: Hamtun, which had success with previous watches such as the H1, H2, Neon, etc., began a Kickstarter campaign in April 2020 -- not a great time, seeing how the pandemic was in full swing. Nevertheless, the project was fully funded within minutes, and it looked like we were on track to have watches shipped by October/November 2020. Of course, there were delays, as to be expected, given the circumstances worldwide. Still, more than a quarter million $US was collected from backers, and final details on the orders were taken.

Nearly a year passes, and there are no watches. The last communication from Hamtun founder Ross Davis was in April of 2021, and he's dropped off the grid since.

I "only" lost $300 in the deal, but I know there were many backers who invested a lot more in multiple watches, the GMT option, upgraded movements, etc. It's really sad, and a shame to see this brand go downhill, as the designs were very promising.

I was part of the H2 Kick Starter, but missed the last one. Agree, the designs were very good and appeared to progressively get better. You would think somebody would know the truth of what happened to the founder.

I was part of the H3 project but managed to get H2 watch and bow out. Id say your not going to get your money or a watch unfortunately

Yeah it's a lost cause at this point. I was very hopeful that I'd at least get an H2 because I texted Ross moments after his last update, and informed him I'd be happy to take an H2 rather than wait for the H3. He was very responsive and sent me a list of options he had available and I selected one. Then all communication stopped, and a watch never arrived. Ross has been MIA ever since.

It sounds like you were one of the lucky few! Is the watch good?

Yea i, i tried to be all polite and understanding of the matter and to my surprise a watch did turn up. I think i was one of the lucky few.

I was one of the lucky ones also.  I ordered a Nanok from their website.  Then the articles about Ross and the issues at Hamtun started coming across my feed.  To my surprise, the watch did show up late in February 2021.  I think they folder a month or two later.

If my Nanok is any indication of their products, they put out great watches.  I've posted wrist shots with the caption, "great watch, bad company".  That pretty much sums it up.
