I did a thing...

I've just gone and bought a new watch online a bit early for my Nephew who turns 18 in March. Been looking/researching about this purchase for months now and finally couldn't resist any longer, (my football team unexpectedly won tonight which may have clouded things in my head a little lol) - despite sternly telling myself before that there was no reason to buy anything for him before the start of 2024.

The watch ticks all the vital boxes I required of being a fairly sensible, well finished Swiss automatic dress-ish piece with date function in the 36-39mm case size range. Sadly has no real water resistance, but does feature a Bling Bonus of a glass caseback.

Anyone want to try and guess? It's unused slightly older stock, has a silver partial sunburst dial, blued second hand and indicies, uses a custom Sellita SW200-1 with Incabloc and is discounted from an alleged £1100 or so RRP.

Yeah, guess more clues are needed. It's not one of the obvious brands, not one that l've ever owned or mentioned on here before and they date from the last century - or some years 'AR' as hardline watch deciples might say, (After Rolex) 😆

Not a brand I've owned or mentioned - here's a visual clue that should get someone over the line

Just been confirmed that it's now started the delivery journey from the dealer in Central Europe to me in the UK. Good grief, it's not even going to be my watch, but I'm getting excited about it...

The new piece for my nephew's 18th that I'm only allowed to check and not try-on has finally arrived today ...

The mixture of brushing and polishing is a nice bonus touch that I was not expecting, as it was not clearly shown on the seller's photos. Quality of fit and finish seem very good, which is also pleasing.

Although l've lost the room with this one I thought I'd post a 'full reveal' pic of my rash early purchase anyway...

Said Nephew finally received his new ML watch today and he seemed pleased enough with it. Later his Mum sort of found-out how much it likely cost and gave me a mild ticking-off, which I probably deserved. It may be 'only' entry-level luxury to many of us lot jaded on 10K+ Omegas and the like, but sometimes it's as well to remember that around 1K is a lot of money in context to an item that typically is displayed in the £30-£200 range in the window of a high-street chain jewelers.
