The poor man's alternative of a grail - Longines Hydroconquest 39mm

When I first saw the Omega Seamaster Profession 300m in Titanium with Sedna (Rose) gold and Tantalum dial, I thought that would be the one that I could sell my soul for.  It's pricey, and it's hard to find.  However, one can sometimes satisfy one's urge with a temporary replacement, until such time that one can eventually find an afford that grail watch.

Today I first saw the new 39mm Longines Hydroconquest in Grey with Rose Gold, and I thought this was the perfect temporary placeholder until I could find and afford the SMP300 in Titanium. However, putting the Hydroconquest on my wrist for the first time, I realised this might not be a temporary placeholder, as this thing is so damn pretty - and at a MUCH more manageable size than the SMP!  Sure, it's not titanium, and its rose gold is PVD, not actual gold, but this might be a permanent cheaper alternative - and needless to say, it became part of my collection today.

I intend on doing a proper review of the Hydroconquest soon when it's spent some time on my wrist...in the meantime, what are your grail watches, and what cheaper suitable, and worthwhile replacement or placeholders can you get for them?  I'm keen to hear your thoughts!

Congrats! I’ll be honest, to me, the Longine‘s is a better looking watch, and that comes from someone with a similar SMP. I guarantee it has a more comfortable bracelet.
