Sharkey Monster V2
So just over a week ago I was looking at Monster homages on AliX because I ran into a coworker who was wearing his Gen 2 Halloween Monster and damn it brought back memories. So the following evening I was looking at various monster homages because well, I have a spotty record over the past couple years with autos, and these already have sapphire, so if I don’t get on with it, I’m not out as much.
Anyway, I get up to answer nature’s call and when I came back in my wife tells me “I ordered 1 of those ugly watches you were looking at.”
It arrived about 4 hours ago, but I laid down and took a nap before messing with opening the box or anything. I must say that the packaging is nicer than my previous experience with Seiko, not a slight at Seiko, but I haven’t bought 1 of them in about 5 years.
So far so good, although the crown was screwed down super tight. This also has the fat spring bars.

I've got a V1 and a V2. They're both really good watches and I love the bracelets they come on. The one reason I like the V1 better is that the indices markers are more 'teeth like'. Seiko changed them because buyers were asking for the opposite i.e. as they are now.

This is the first time in 5 years she has bought me a watch.
Also getting this watch has also changed my grail to something far more attainable. The SRP313. I may have to change my handle on here, I am going to be offloading most of my quartz pieces.
Yes, I went a similar route. I definitely enjoy mechanical watches now more than quartz.
The Seiko is lovely but personally I can't help feel I wouldn't enjoy it more than a Heimdallr.

The Heimdallr is better spec’d out of the box, but they don’t make a Dracula Monster. I miss that one on a stupid level.

Maybe I got lucky but since I put this on on Saturday, I am at 7 seconds fast overall. When I ised the timegrapher app on my phone, it said 7.6 sec slow per day. The maths aren’t mathing but I like it.
