In my opinion and really more of a theory of mine....old hardlex is harder than new hardlex. I'm a carpenter by trade and wear my SNK-809 to work everyday, only minor scratches to the crystal. However my newer SRPE that I only wear in the evening or on weekends has many more and bigger scratches in the crystal even tho I baby it. Thoughts..?

New watch enthusiast. Mostly Seiko with a few Timex and Casio watches as well. Very hesitant and still undecided about which brand to go with for my first "luxury" watch.

Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me at all if you were right. As the old saying goes, “They don’t make them like they use to”.
You can easily swap them with a nice saphire, especially the srpe like mine. There are tons of suppliers. 👌
The SRPE is also bigger, more contact area.
