I saw a recent post where Catawiki was mentioned as an auction site. When I looked into it, it looked rather interesting. Are there any challenges (customs) for US buyers? Anyone have experience they can share?
I've bought a couple of Bulova watches there at a great price. You'll pay a fee to catawiki as a percentage of the final price. I believe its 9%. The way they have it set up you can't snipe with last second bids like ebay. Bids at the end actually extend the auction time. So you can still be tactical and wait until its nearly over but just don't bank on a snipe winning you the game. I've had no negative experiences so far. Just follow th same behaviours you would elsewhere. Buy the seller ... Study the photos and descriptions meticulously. Ask questions if you have to.
