Vario 1918. Automatic. Bronze case, enamel dial, small seconds, cathedral hands, blue crazy horse leather bund strap with bronze hardware, and an engraving on the case back honoring Singapore’s WWI soldiers and the armistice that ended the war on 11.11.1918. 4 o’clock signed screw down crown, fixed lugs and sapphire crystal. Oh, and the buckle is also signed. That’s a lot of details for the price.

Great aesthetics. Love the numerals and small seconds hand. Great value for what you get...

That’s an interesting piece. I always thought WWI had little if any impact as it did not spread to Southeast Asia. I love the case and dial but would not be a fan of that dominating strap personally.

The strap is pretty comfortable once it breaks in, you can also wear it without the Bund for a very classic comfortable fit. As for the tenuous connection to WWI, you’re right about that. From what I understand there were around 150 Singaporeans that lost their lives serving in the conflict directly and some of those were colonists not exactly native Singaporeans. I think the brand owner just really loves watches and wanted to do a fresh take on the historical trench watch style. And he delivered really well on that goal. Lots of dial, case, and strap options available for some great looking watches.
