Bearing in mind that this is a cumulative register it will likely only ever increase in terms of the number of watches registered.

And itโ€™s the steady state rate of registration that will - in due course - be meaningful. I have a slight suspicion that there has been an uptick in registering stolen watches (some probably stolen in prior years) as this (and the database) has gained a lot of publicity recently.

So weโ€™re twice as many watches stolen last year as in all the prior years of the database - unlikely.

But it is positive that watch crime is under the spotlight more and the tools are there for owners, dealers and investigators.

So all positive rather than alarmist.
