Kartel watches?

Do any UK Crunchers have knowledge or experience of Kartel watches? I keep getting their "build your own watch experience" adverts following me around the internet and I'm debating whether it would make a good birthday/Christmas present for t'husband (who I won't tag in the hope he doesn't see this but he will probably anyway and I vaguely mentioned it as I'm terrible at keeping surprises...)

The Trustpilot reviews seem promising, but it would be nice to get something half decent out of it!

The experience sounds nice but also at £245, you probably will get to build their cheapest quartz watch. The watches they sell look like every other fashion brand promotions on social media.

Selling watches with a Miyota 8215 for £365-800 and advertising it as a premium movement itself shows it's just another money grab. They didn't even bother to spend a dollar extra to get a decorated rotor for one of the cheapest movements available.

You would be better off buying a watch from a very good brand or from some established micros at that price which would be still cheaper.

A bigger watch box will lead to the temptation of buying more watches 😂

Thank you, that was my gut feeling too

I have recently purchased one from the store in Edinburgh. The experience was good, the people in the store were helpful and not forceful. The options are not overly extensive, but being able to build your own was a novelty. The build quality is good but for a quartz movement it’s probably a bit expensive.

Overall, I was on a hunt for a Scottish watch and I am happy with what I now own. Picture to follow…

The date window is a bit small which is a bit annoying.

Really like the look overall though - what diameter case size is it?

I went for the Munro. It’s a 41mm. The dial really does shine nicely.

Again though, if you’re looking for a Build Your Own, there’s probably better value options out there. I particularly wanted a Scottish watch, which I bought in Edinburgh, and I’m happy.

I got the Blair (the only automatic) a couple of months ago. The 'experience' isn't really worth much as you can just walk in the shop and do it anyway. Saying that my mate did get 3 drams out of them
