Any Breguet fans out there?

The Tradition ref 7037. Automatic with retrograde seconds. 38mm of golden hand finished bliss.

Beautiful.  But even if I could afford it, that's not for me.  Open case backs are how I like to appreciate a movement, not by making the dial tiny.  My thing is the watch has to do its job well first, then look great.  To me, this is about showing craftsmanship first and telling time second and that doesn't align with my priorities..  That said, I'm sure they aren't having any trouble selling these.

I am a huge fan but my wallet isn't.

The real question is : Is it possible to doesn't Breguet ?

I have only one interrogation about this watch. Is it normal that the "breguet" texte is not perfectly in the middle ?

·

I love that you can easily tell the time. A lot of other watches (certain RM's spring to mind) with skeletonized parts I would have a lot of trouble reading. Cool watch!

Here is from Japan.

Breguet are a very important brand in the history of watchmaking. I would argue that it is hard to be a watch fan and not be at least a passive supporter of Breguet by default. It is almost like being a car fan and not liking combustion or the wheel, these things were fundamental towards the development of what would constitute a “car” today.

That all being said, I think this is not an attractive watch in the traditional sense, but it is a lovely piece that I would be proud to own.

There is usually a piece no. on the right hand side of the ribbon, or the ribbon is centred and a bottom ribbon has the number displayed, but I suspect this has been “photoshopped” to hide it and protect the owner from those who wish to pay homage to the piece…

there is grail, and supra grail.  Love me some Breguet but they remain firmly in the super supra echelon

·

Are you Zach? More importantly, is that yours?? Beautiful.

I like the idea of the brand more than the actual modern offerings. Maybe they also make moderately sized classic and simple, if old-school ornate, models. I really haven't checked.

Goofy watches with minuscule dials are anathema to me. What is that, a 10mm dial? At least it isn't off-center.

It is like Ford is to motor car. Without watchmakers like Breguet modern mechanical wristwatches would not be what they are today.
Three words: Breguet Balance Spring.

I am a huge fan of Breguet and own a type xxi. The tradition seen here pays homage to the sousscription watches Breguet made around 1800. My favorite version is the 7057br, red gold case, black dial, and grey movement

·

I like what they can do, but not typically what they actually do.  Love that they have a 10hz movement with a decent power reserve.  But I agree with some other sentiments, simple is better for me.  This is a bit "much" for my tastes, but cool in it's own right.

·

Breguet is great but a bit out of my price range just like a bunch of others here. Now if I ever get around to buying lottery tickets and hit.... 😁

·

I don't own one, but I love the Breguet Tradition.

The historical nod to Breguet pocket watches in the movement architecture and finishing is super inside baseball - which makes this watch unbelievably cool.  The Breguet hands are a bit more on the nose, but fitting (I would love to see one with Breguet numerals, too).  The hand guilloche dial is lovely and appropriately rare.

The fact that the case, dial and movement finishing are executed to such a high standard is just icing.  Even if this watch isn't to a given person's particular tastes, there is no denying that it lives up to the "high horology" moniker.  Personally, I love it.

And on the secondary market these are a bargain compared to any time only watches from the usual suspects.

P.S. If this is your watch:

Wear it in good health!

That model has been on my list for some time. It's an incredible piece of watchmaking. Beautiful in many, many ways plus a nod to Breguet's history. But it's been hard to commit to purchasing a watch I would probably rarely wear. I'm sure other folks understand.
