What's the best all round watch style?

What is your favourite all-round watch style? I tend to always settle for dive watches when grabbing one from the box, but they can be a bit bulky. Perhaps a chronograph is more useful thanks to the timer function? Or a quartz so you do not have to worry about the time? Fascinated to hear your thoughts on the "default choice"

Sport.
Think Rolex Explorer, Sinn 556, Longines Spirit, CW C63 Sealander, Nodus Sector Sport and so many others

Digital. Tells the time accurately.

Wrist.

And that's all I got to say about that.

If we're talking about the value and look at that as a ratio of performance to cost I would probably say a Casio f91w. Almost desposible in terms of cost, accurate quartz movement and solid build quality and reputation.

Purely performance well then almost anything quartz.

But for me the best allrounder in terms of style would be something like the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, the Tudor Black Bay 36 or maybe the Rolex OP. They can be dressed up or down and you'd struggle to find yourself in a situation where one of these wouldn't be able to manage. Have solid performance for mechanical watches and offer good value for money.

I've yet to find a situation where my 36mm Aqua Terra wouldn't cope.

Diver, GMT, Chronograph then dress watch all in that order lol.

Field. Depending on the strap it can pull of everything from pub to desk to wedding. Usually comfortable and usually a good wr. Just a great all round category

🤔 I wear an automatic diver the vast majority of the time.

That being said, I think it somewhat depends on your “dress code“ at work.

I think for true super almost-never-take-it-off versatility, you’re probably looking at something like a 10 bar dress watch.

If you don’t have any requirements like that then a digital 10 bar watch or a G-Shock. Set it and leave it on, change the entire watch or just the battery every 10 years or so. Casio 800, 1200 or 5600, all candidates for GOAT if you don’t regularly wear a suit and a 1200 might even be able to pull that off, albeit with a bit of tongue in cheek. 😊
