What do you think is the most overused word/description among watch enthusiasts?

My nominee: 'iconic'.

'value'

I think grail is used too often.  Doesn't help that, for some reason, collectors can't seem to be able to define what is a grail.

·

Homage? Or maybe Rolex? It's really overused as a word.

·

Limited Edition

·

"Horology" if you're talking about a watch, call it a watch. Nobody is impressed by a $5 word that's overused.

·

Grail

·

The iconic G-Shock has lots of horological value in this limited edition, almost like a grail Rolex.

I let myself out.

Luxury...sorry, I thought you said overused among watch sellers.🤣

My wife says I use "need" and "watch" together far, far too often, to the point she never wants to hear them together again. 😇

·

Horology, value, luxury, tool, grail, and many more.

·

More of a phrase, but “in the metal” is such a cringy term.

·

Bespoke

·

"Big Boy" - Federico looking at you

·

A "dress" watch is just a watch.

'value'

Also its cousin, "value for money", as if value is going to be measured some other way.

“Punches above its weight/price point/tier.” Please find a new analogy!

Hate this one!!!

·

All of the above, but "innovation" also comes to mind. Phrases along the lines of "like no other" to describe an industrial product. Terms such as "asset" and "investment" when it comes to watches. Similar to "heritage", when the brand was sold and bought five times. "Wrist presence" in lieu of "heavy as bleep" is another one.

“Plays with the light“

100% "homage"

Bespoke

Or, in Colonial English, "custom"

·

”True GMT”

·

"Entry Level"

·

“In the metal”

·

The one that always sounds the alarm with me
- genuinely good…

The one that sets me off
- the rules of…

The one that feels ridiculously inflated
- the level of finishing…

Maybe I’m the one with tight tolerances to some semantics but there’s a lot of baloney floating around.

Classic

·

Because wordiness, "watch"

·

Rolex

·

Vintage… just say “old”

·

Colorway. Colorweigh? Colorwhey? Whichever is the one that refers to the color of a watch.
