Lie to me game. Guess the lie and have a change to lie to others.

Thanks to @Eris_Goddess_of_Discord  we have this wonderful bit of fun just before Christmas. Probably it's all to make us lie, get to the naughty list of Santa and get valuable bag of coal for Christmas.

But it's only a couple of weeks till Christmas so tis the time for games, and I promise this one is very friendly and low on commitment! No dressing up or food products required.

While half of you go look for the 'Mute' function let me explain the game to the rest of you.

This one is called 'Lie to me'.

I basically tell you three facts about me. Two are true, one is a lie. First person to spot the lie then gives 2 truths and 1 lie about themselves and the rest of us have a go at spotting the lie again and we just keep going until we get bored or decide we know more about each other than we are comfortable with. Can be watch related or not.

Here is my attempt to trick you into believing in fantastic imagined story about me masked by 2 real stories about me. I will try to make it quite short.

1. I died... Believe it or not, I was dead for about 5 minutes. Actually I drowned in a technical pit filled with water just behind my apartment block. I was 4. In October we walked with my older sister (she was 6 at that time). There was that technical pit dug by city services, probably to fix water supply or something. It was filled with water. There was a very beautiful yellow maple leaf floating on the surface. I reached it and slipped into that pit. I couldn't swim at that time so I quickly went down. My sister was not a swimmer as well so she immediately shouted to the balcony of my parents that was on the 5-th floor. I don't remember anything else, because I got too much cold water in the lungs and lost conscious. At this time my father ran down the stairways to save me. He was in socks, because there was no time to put the shoes on. He jumped into the pit and grabbed me from the surface. I was not breathing and my heart stopped. Repetitive chest compressions saved me. I coughed out water and started breathing. 30 years after, luckily still breathing.

2. I was quite a smart kid (at least my mom told me so). School program was too easy for me and I had an annoying hobby of reading encyclopaedias and school books for fun. So I skipped a couple of grades and I ended up graduating from school at 13 (to be very honest I was just about to turn 14 that summer). As a logical move I decided to apply to a university in a city 400 km away from home. There were no universities in my small town and 400 km for Russia is not a huge distance. We went to that city with my father, who was worried about me, but proud at the same time. I entered a big hall where there were a lot of people giving in the application documents. I left my father at the door and went straight to beautiful young girl with curly hair that was sitting behind the table and filed every applicant. She looked at me and asked "Do you need help? Are you lost?". I gave her my documents and smiled. She was quite surprised. Later I got to know that she studied at the same faculty with me, we made friends and she even fed me from time to time in the dorm where we both lived. For the record, I could cook myself okay back then.

3. Once I was awaken by a meteorite, that exploded 5 km above the city. The first thing in the morning I heard an explosion, the walls started vibrating and I heard the sound of shuttered glass falling onto the floor. We were very lucky that it was not our glass, because it was February and super cold outside. I was very scared and immediately started searching the net for answers. There was nothing. I had to go to the office and before leaving home I doomscrolled the feed to get any bit of information. I read about a meteor and obviously didn't believe it. I went to the office and the office building was in a bad shape. There were no windows and inside the building the grid ceiling was destroyed with pieces of that laying on the floor and the lamps hanging on the wires. Our office had no windows and thus there was no damage made. I had to work. No days off.

@witcher.watcher I was going to say the lie was #3 as the power was probably knocked out by the meteorite making it impossible to check the internet

Then I thought possibly #2 simply because you spent more time writing it to sell it

But I'm going to go with #1 as the lie, I believe you did fall in and go under. but as you mentioned you don't remember anything else, because you got too much cold water in the lungs and lost conscious.

So you couldn't have known if your father was barefoot, In socks or wearing shoes. Plus you were 4 and wouldn't have been aware either way

Devils in the Details #1 is the partial Lie

·

2 is a lie! You can’t be smart your here with us 🤣

·

I'm with @Ichibunz  on this one number 2

·

I'm going to guess number 3.

·

My vote doesn’t count since I’ve already played… but I would guess #2 is the lie. That’s a long way from home at 14 for a smart kid with a pretty girl looking after him. All great stories though.

·

Okay, okay, busted. I will not keep the intrigue for long. Number 2 is a lie. I have actually skipped 1 grade of school and graduated when I was 16 and not 13. But I actually looked like a 12 year old boy and the question of the girl about me being lost is actually legit. Both other stories are completely true. I lived in Chelyabinsk in 2013 when a superbolide meteor entered the atmosphere and exploded over the city.

And of course I don't remember anything about my own death, but I had witnesses that I can trust 100%.

@Ichibunz @Droptuned83 and @valleykilmers are spot on in their guesses. I am a bit lost who has already told their stories and who hasn't. Our friend Jerome has already told his story and now it is @Droptuned83 turn to share 2 truths and a lie. Good luck!

·

I'm a bit late to the party, but all cool stories!

Number 1 gives me chills 🥺 Every parents nightmare. Your poor dad! (and you, obvs!).

I know. But now I can share my experience with my son to avoid similar situations. So far so good.

Looks like I’m the new @Fieldwalker

·

Also, my guess is #2. Not sure why, but a 14 year old traveling that distance for school daily, or being able to stay on campus at that age doesn’t jive with my American frame of reference.

That's an intense experience! You got me reading up on it last night. Holy Cow!

It wouldn't be impossible daily. But staying on campus at 14 is rare, but possible

Dude!  I slept in and missed it as well!  Just so ya’ll know, I’m claiming ownership of the annoyed all caps “AND ..” portion of a reminder

For guesses - among other things, my job is fixing people who experience that first story, at least when simple CPR doesn’t do the trick

So would’ve guessed 2, as there seems to be crazy meteors constantly hitting Russia , based on vid clips on twitter anyway

·

@witcher.watcher thank you for the stories.  I shouldn’t ask, but will you be conscripted?  Would you go to Ukraine and shoot at Ukrainians?   This is not a place we talk about this stuff but a year long land war rages on, I can’t in good conscience not ask.   I’m sure this comment breaks dozens rules here, so feel free to ignore.  I’ve friends from both Russia and Ukraine BTW.

Pretty sure it's #2 because that sounds like he is just copying the character Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory

·

I second #2 being the lie.

Ok, then I choose # 2 on that as well. If he was a good enough driver to win, then he would have passed the test 1st try.

·
Droptuned83

Ok well here goes.

1 I witnessed a UFO a a kid along with 35 other people who saw the same thing including my Dad. It was a very strange experience. One which changed my Dad's mind as to weather we are alone in the universe or not.

2 I didn't take my HGV driving test until I was 25 and only passed on the 3rd  attempt. It was for work and I thought they would sack me if I kept failing it.

3 I got my dream job with McLaren Racing in 2013 as truck driver . Before I left in 2018 I was number 1 driver  4 years in a row out of the 20 or so full time time drivers they employed at that time.

Because of that Volvo took me to their World competition to find the best fuel efficient HGV driver in 2016 and represent the UK. I won.

Good luck

I think number 1 is the lie. The narrative of 2 and 3 draw focus away from 1, and 35 people exactly? I'm not sure.

it seemed you were echoing @UnholiestJedi by seconding his guess. Just trying to be helpful not hurtful 🤣

Roger that 🙂 And thank you!

·

I’m confused a little not knowing what is HGV.  But sounds important for your job, so seems wrong you struggled to get it.

So, 2 is the lie!

Based on avatars, @Darkoverlord might have insider knowledge on the truthfulness of #1.  Excited to hear if he was involved in any way 😃

·

I’ll guess 3 is the lie based on the dream job being McClaten but leaving the dream job for Volvo.

@Fieldwalker everyone always thinks my avatar is an alien. it is actually a Salvador Dali painting called ant face (though some records have it untitled) and in addition to being a cool looking avatar it is tattooed on my leg.  Or is it….? Am I lying?  I also have a ufo story.  Or do I ?  Lol

I haven't lost the last bits of my dignity. I believe any war is wrong, but this one is just the worst. There is no goal, no reason, just cruelty. Potentially, I can be conscripted if I am found, caught and brought to the drafting office, but I would refuse and rather go to prison for years, but not go to fight for THAT people. I hope, I have answered your question

·

@Droptuned83 Thing got a little crazy while you were out. How long till we get the truth? what kind of timeline do we have?

·

Ok , sorry for the delay , just got up for work , it was a late post last night.

So pretty much all of it is true, but it is #3 that contains my untruth, it all happened and I went to the Volvo driving challenge that year but I didn't win the competition. Was great experience and a great memory.

So I think @Fiatjeepdriver  is the first correct answer and next up.👍

·

@Fiatjeepdriver For heavens sake, start a new Thread!
