Everyday Dressy Silver Dial Options?

Hi all, just wanted to hear some peoples opinions between these options. Trying to decide on a light dial everyday/dress watch. I do have a cartier tank so I'm looking for something on steel with a round case and more wrist presence. Really liking the options below just curious to hear what other's thoughts are. Would love to keep it about $3k-ish or less, but would consider going a bit over if I have to. The options have I have been considering: 1) Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles - 39mm ~ $750 2) Omega Aqua Terra 2503.30 - 39mm variant ~ $2500 3) Rolex Date 15200 - 34mm (but seems to wear like a 38mm from what others have said) ~ $4000 I really like the Rolex and Omega with a slight lean towards the Omega because it's about half the price and just seems to be a better watch, but not the largest fan of the arrow hand. The Tissot also seems like a stellar option, but I think I would want to eventually upgrade. Would love to hear what people think or thoughts from anyone that has one or more of these watches. Thanks in advance!

Personally it's the Omega all day long for me. I believe it to be the best of the 3 and is very versatile. Not a Rolex and you won't need to up grade. Win win win.

The omegas hand set looks really nice 👍

There's always some asshole that suggests one that's not on your list. Today, I'm the asshole.

First, I'm not usually a fan of Tag, but this one has caught my eye. 39mm so it's in your size range. Cheaper than a Rolex, on par with the Omega. Nicer than the Tissot. I like these hands a LOT more than the Omega ones, but I know I'm in the minority there. I just don't get those Omega hands..... The Tag is only 11.5mm thick (2mm thinner than the Omega). I like that.

The Rolex looks great. 34mm just sounds small but if it fits you and you're happy with it, nothing else matters.

I’m unfortunately biased. I will switch over to the ss bracelet during the summer.

The Omega Aqua Terra for me. I wouldn't call it a grail but it's one of those watches that I would love to own given the right circumstances (in other words, do I have the money?).

·

I love the AT but prefer the ones with date window at 6.

For the price, I must admit the Tissot is quite impressive, Powermatic 80, beautiful alpha hands and domed crystal... Just the WR that is a little weak for an everyday option.

The 15200 wears arguably smaller than a 15210 because of the protruding bezel and a 15210 wears like a 34mm watch. It is MUCH smaller than a 38mm Aqua Terra. Please do not buy it thinking it wears big. I have this, so I should know 🙃

Image

The generation after that wears bigger but also costs more.

The 1162xx Datejusts (they have a bit of a super case, 37mm wide actually)

Image

are relatively close to a 38mm Aqua Terra, great watches but sadly outside your budget 😔

I would provide side by side images but sadly the photo of my 15210 was taken on its way to being handed over for service 😕 sorry.

Have you considered something like this SBGA373?

40mm, and similar price to the Rolex if you shop around.

It sounds like you’ve never tried on the Rolex 34mm. You may want to try that on for size(and appearance) before you decide this is even an option. I owned a 34mm Rolex way back when, and it was way too tiny for my wrist…and I have a small wrist!!!

Another concern is, you have things that you don’t like on both the Tissot and Omega. 1) If you’re already thinking of upgrading from the Tissot even before buying it, you shouldn’t even think of buying it. My suggestion is to save more $ and to buy “the one” that you’ll find the most satisfaction with. 2) If some detail on the Omega is bothering you, you may want to look at other watches that check off on everything. Take your time, research and save more $ before making the big decision. That’s my 2 cents.

I mean you have the dress category sorted with the Tank, so maybe something even more "fun" could be nice. I am personaly hoping for the Release of a light dial Nomos club sport neomatik this year.

Their coloured ones are stunning and a silver dial would be extremely classy. I do not think you can find a better package at 3k€.

Sry for not hitting the brief with the coloured dial.

Would love to buy the Omega, but my next watch will be the Tissot. Maybe even in that colour, or the blue one 😎

·

Of these options I'd choose the AT. That is a great looking GADA!

Personally I chose the King Seiko SJE083 which can be easily dressed up and down. Only thing I miss in it is the screw in crown even though Im pretty sure it wouldn't make any real difference. :)

I love the look of the Rolex a little more than the Omega, but the cyclops ruins it for me. In light of that (and the price) I'd choose the Omega all day long.

·

I think think the Omega is the better watch. But for every day I would go for the Tissot. Affordable. Easy to handle. Simple to repair. Cheap to be serviced. Don't need to cry if something happens.

·

I'd throw this into the mix, the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium:

Image

The Powermatic C07.811 doesn't beat the Aqua Terra's cal.2500, but it beats the C07.111 in the Chemin des Tourelles. Unlike the 111, the 811 has no plastic components in the escapement, which means 25 jewels instead of 111's 23, and it has Silicium hairspring instead of 111's Nivachron. And the Gentleman has 100m WR. Far more versatile.

·

I'd reccomend this one, Ball Fireman Enterprise. I own same one but with black dial and I love wearing it.

Thanks! You make some great points. I tried on the Carrera a while back but wasn't impressed for some reason, I think I may need to revisit it again.

Thanks! Appreciate your input. I was actually able to find a review on youtube between these two exact references haha. In the video they seem to be pretty comparable but I know what we see on screen can sometimes be a bit deceiving.

You're right, I haven't tried on a 34mm, but I have tried on a few rolex 36mm's and I found them to fit pretty well. I will definitely need to try on some 34mm one's when I get the chance. Appreciate your input.

As That Guy who always has to point to something different, my picks would be the Hamilton intra-matic, or the Mido Commander.

The later generation 116200 one feels quite a big bigger than the 16200. Depending on your preferences it may or may not be a good size. I recommend trying it on, many shops with used watches have these

·

Omega for sure!
