Well… where to start with this…
Was messing about looking auction sites after a few drinks and started looking at the watches on my watch list. Filled with Dutch courage and decided to tempt fate and place a bid on this quartz Grand Seiko just for a laugh.
2 weeks later, I now own the watch and it’s been delivered. It’s in great condition and is thin and light and is exactly the size I like (36mm/37mm).
Even though this is an earlier version of the relaunched Grand Seiko, the finishing is superb! The indices are super reflective and the dial, whilst just a simple sunburst dial, changes from near white to ginger ale depending on the light.
Bidding at auctions when intoxicated is like Russian roulette… I just got lucky this time. Good thing it came in great condition and I only bid on a Grand Seiko quartz and not anything more expensive. 😅
Bonus: the lug width is 18mm, so I have some straps on hand I can use. Swapped out the black crocodile print leather strap for a brown leather strap with white stitching to make the watch slightly less dressy.
On the black leather strap in was shipped in:
