New bit of kit

I think I found the perfect watch tool accessory. I know that many of you WC people have similar things, but after a recent post about regulating my watch this was suggested.

Oh my word what a game changer. Now when changing a strap or replacing a battery I no longer have to balance a magnifying glass while dropping stuff on the floor never to be found again.

My eyesight over 3 feet is nigh on perfect, below that reading glasses are required, below 1 ft I am effectively blind as a bat and everything blurs. To the younger watch crunchers with perfect eyesight I would suggest get one, as one day you will need it and not struggle for years like me.

Anyway, as well as tinkering watch wise, I have found several other uses…

I can now cook frozen food to the correct time and temperature, therefore avoiding food poising, as I can read the instructions.

I now laugh at Casio watch manuals.

It works well reading food additives in the supermarket, although a white lab coat an essential accessory.

I now darn socks with relative success, and threading a needle – Pah!

Forging official documents a breeze.

The list is endless….

The only negatives, people laugh at you especially family and friends, when out and about members of the public tend to stare and give you a wide berth.

Late edit, as reminded in comments it has a light !

Yup! Got one myself!! It’s awesome!! But I’m too lazy to take it out of the box at times 😖

Did you get the one that you can change the lenses and it can be above your regular glasses?! I have that one and helped me a lot changing and adjusting bracelet on my Speedy and GS damn screws are too freaking small!!

Yep has 5 lenses, I don't know how I struggled for so long without one of these !

I have something like this and you somehow failed to mention the LED that shines a light on the gizmo too. It truly makes a difference to have good illumination and 2-5x magnification, if that isn't obvious.

I know right!! My wife is the actual person who recommended it to me I guess she sees me suffer lol

Brilliant bit of kit (recommended to me by a certain Ichibunz) no more dropping a loupe onto the movement or even worse in your beer (done both😖).

I bought something similar (in function) when I was setting a diamond a few years back. Now I use it for watches!

Not sure how I managed before.

Bought something very similar at Harbor Freight. Multiple magnifications from 1.5X to 11X and LED light with 2 settings. Amazing how much easier battery changing and bracelet adjustment has become.

An awakening for me, like the first time I discovered Whisky Sour (don't do WS in the UK discovered it in upstate NY years ago)
